Interested in a career in construction and trades?

Construction and Trades Pathways is a career pipeline program for job seekers 18+ who live or attend school in Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center, or North Minneapolis in partnership with Hennepin Technical College, Brooklyn Center Community Schools, Minnesota Trades Academy, HIRED, the cities of Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center. This program will prioritize and screen for individuals who are minorities, women, and disadvantaged individuals by providing them with pre-enrollment training along with removing barriers that might prevent applicants from enrolling in MnDOT Highway Heavy Training programs.

Program Eligibility:

-          Age 18 or older

-          Live or attend school in Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center, or North Minneapolis

-          Interest in a construction occupation

-          Read and write at a 6th-grade level

Program Structure

Customized

Training

Participants will be enrolled in customized training with Hennepin Technical College for six weeks where they will be trained in small equipment training, OSHA 10, and receive support services in receiving their driver’s licenses.

Seasonal Employment

Upon completion of the training, they will be referred to either seasonal employment with the Public Works Department of either City of Brooklyn Park or Brooklyn Center where they will start with $20 hourly pay.

Additional training resources are available when you register and participate in the constructions and trades program which includes, but is not limited to; Construction Training offered through Hennepin County and the Building Strong Communities Program
